Tri-Junkies
This is definitely an addictive thing, triathlons! Everyone I talk to like coworkers, family, friends, strangers at races and such that "tri" this addictive multisport gets hooked or as I like to say becomes a junkie...never fails....wouldn't you agree? I can not remember one person that has done one triathlon and then told me it wasn't for them...but that is OK too....
Everyone in our group started 2009 with their first half marathon accomplishment the "ING" we trained in different pace groups but then we all meet and created this bond and support pack while training for our first Triathlon "TRI MIAMI". Since then most of us have done almost every single triathlon here in Miami. We have continued to train hard together, push through together, and at every race we have celebrated together! You will always hear us and see us, no matter what wave each one of us are in we warm up together and send each of our waves off with a shout out to give that person the best start in our great journey!! At the finish line you will see all of us waiting for each other sprinting it in. What a feeling to cross that finish line and see all your amazing TRI friends there waiting for you telling you "YOU DID AWESOME" with a bunch of high fives, and no matter if you are the fastest or the slowest YOU DID IT, and that is what matters!!!
But this is the message...we do it together, the more the merrier, and we all push each other and motivate each other, we are each others true support! What I have noticed in this hidden passion of ours is that two people help each other whether you are running alone in a race or with a partner there is always "that someone" that will encourage you when you need it the most! That *stranger cheering you on....that *stranger passing you by telling you "keep it up come on you can do it, we are almost there, that *72 year old lady that passes you by light as a feather on her feet (what an inspiration)...all I can say is no matter how you look at it but when you are out there in this multisport you are never alone, no matter what team you represent nor if you race by yourself or in a group you are never alone out there....this multisport represents Team Racing Inspiration and that life is what we all represent in Miami... we are a bunch of trijunkies that live a TriLife in Miami...and whether you are currently training with us or not you are a part of this trilife.......
I want to thank my partner in crime that I have dragged along this year, from training for the ING to our 6th triathlon race in 2009! My very good friend Leslie Fernanadez that has been with me from the start, and of course my awesome group the original trijunkies, Zoe Plasencia, Olga Martinez, Meghan Calfee, Mario Ballut our party animal #2, Anny Revilla, Daniel Roca, Juan Carlos Parodi, Carlos Lopez, Denise Hernandez, Tabitha Rodriguez, Monica Toledo our party animal #1, Heather Man, Eva Popham, Jeanette Trasobares...you guys ROCK and are the BEST!!! Also thanks to Team Footworks and BodyZen that got us started in 2009, and a shout out to Dan Duval at multisportmiami that has gotten us to the next level!
There are more trijunkies out there and you all know who you are :-)
See you out there in the sun, and if I meet you, you bet I will be cheering you on!
