04/18/2011Kenya’s Mutai Wins Boston in 2:03:02BOSTON (AP) — Kenya's Geoffrey Mutai won the Boston Marathon in 2 hours, 3 minutes, 2 seconds — the fastest anyone has ever run the 26.2 mile distance.
The previous best of 2:03:59 was by Haile Gebrselassie in Berlin 2008. Because Monday's race had a strong tailwind on a downhill course, Mutai's run is not recognized by track's international governing body as a record.

But Mutai was almost three minutes better than the course record set just last year by Robert Kiprono Cheruiyot.

03/15/2011Miami Speed Shifts to Aug 28The inaugural Miami Speed Triathlon at Homestead-Miami Speedway has been rescheduled for Aug. 28 with the aim of better accommodating the race schedules of South Florida age-group triathletes.

The decision of moving the event date was thoroughly thought out with the support of several local triathlon clubs. We both believe the new date will bring positive benefits to the sport in general – resulting in an even better experience for you, the athlete.

12/02/2010Registration Opens for New 5150 Triathlon SeriesRegistration for the new 5150 Triathlon Series opens Wednesday December 1 at noon EST. Consisting of a 1.5K swim, 40K bike and 10K run, the 2011 5150 Triathlon Series will be the largest international distance triathlon series in the world. It will also be the first non-drafting international race series of its kind, offering a competitive platform for professional and amateur athletes alike.

09/09/2010Bike Fun Day(Miami, FL September 8, 2010)—City of Miami Commissioner Francis Suarez and the Green Mobility Network will be hosting a Bike Fun Day at Silver Bluff Elementary located at 2609 SW 25th Avenue on Friday, September 10th from 3:15 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The event will take place at the school’s physical education field and will be open to all those who are enrolled at the school. Those who are not enrolled in the after school program must be accompanied by an adult.

08/30/2010Miami Nice Cup Challenge!Congratulations to all teams who participated today at the MiamiNice 2! With Team Hammerheads taking first place at he Cup Challenge, MiamiPace takes 2nd place and El Trainer with third place!
It all started with the Miami Nice 1, on April 29th following up with the Miami Nice 2, today August 29. Existing teams and new upcoming teams came together to get points participating on both races and making their presence felt through their members proudly wearing their team's uniform, their support tents, volunteers and of course, podiums!
07/06/2010South Florida cyclist finishes 3-day bike race Renan Dolabella, 22, of Key Biscayne recently completed the London to Paris L2P 2010, a three-day bike race.

The event began on June 24 in London, taking the riders to Dove after covering 110 miles and 5,200 feet of climbing. In Dove, the cyclists crossed the English Channel via ferryboat to Calais in France.

10/23/2009Dolabella tops in triathlon Sprint Carlos Dolabella, 48, of Key Biscayne won the Sprint division of the Miami Nice Triathlon on Sunday around Miami Marine Stadium.

With temperatures in the 60s from the first cold front of the season, Dolabella led from start to finish, covering the half-mile swim, 12.5-mile bike and 3.1-mile run in 1 hour 5 minutes and 53 seconds.

``The race was very well-organized, and it was really nice to finish [my] season with a win,'' said Dolabella, who won the World's Fittest CEO race in August.

10/01/2009Miami Hosts Newest Ironman 70.3World Triathlon Corporation officially announces that Miami, Florida will serve as the host city for the newest Ironman 70.3 event. Taking place on October 30, 2010, Ironman 70.3 Miami will consist of a 1.2-mile swim, a 56-mile bike ride, and a 13.1-mile run. Because Miami offers a variety of great architecture and a wide diversity of cultures, Ironman 70.3 Miami will quickly establish itself as a destination event and is expected to sell out quickly.The inaugural event will reach capacity at 2,000 athletes. There will be 50 qualifying slots available to the 2011 Foster Grant Ironman World Championship 70.3 in addition to a prize purse of $36,000 for distribution among the top male and female professional finishers. Registration for this event is now available at www.ironmanmiami.com.

08/27/2009Carlos Dolabella – CEO Challenge World Champion, and World’s Fittest CEO®CEO Challenges is the world leader in sport competitions for CEOs, and once each year, hosts the CEO Challenge World Championship to find out who is the ‘best of the best’. This year the Championship was held in conjunction with the USA National Triathlon Championship in Tuscaloosa, Alabama on August 22. CEOs were required to pre-qualify for the event, either by posting triathlon times under 2:30, or winning a previous CEO Challenge event.

After a highly competitive race, it was Carlos Dolabella, partner and CFO of First Class Rent a Car in Miami, who bested the field to win in 2 hours 12 minutes for the Olympic distance course (1.5km swim, 40km bike, 10km run). Since triathlon requires incredible fitness in three sports, CEO Challenges grants the title of Fittest CEO® to the winner of its World Championship each year. 07/02/2009Lane Closure and Bicycle Lane Detour on the Bear Cut Bridge, along the Rickenbacker CausewayThe eastbound left vehicle travel lane (traveling into Key Biscayne) along the Bear Cut Bridge, will be closed to vehicle traffic beginning Monday, June 29, 2009, until further notice for emergency repairs. This will allow for one vehicle travel lane to remain open at all times, therefore closing the dedicated bike lane along the bridge.
